Bagoong Club Resto: Filipino Cuisine with a Twist

The moment I stepped into the Bagoong Club Resto at Twin Lakes Tagaytay, I knew that it was not an ordinary Filipino restaurant.  They had the nice traditional Filipino furniture in the waiting area, a wooden staircase with banisters that reminded me of the ones in our old house, but what caught my eye was the whimsical sink in the wash area.  It was basically a kawali (metal pan) with a drain and faucet.

Reading their menu, you see different and unusual variations of Filipino dishes, many of which are cooked or served with bagoong (sauce made of fermented small fish and prawns).  Since there were only two of us and since many of the items were unavailable (we came after holy week), we just ordered 3 dishes: Crispy Binagoong Bulalo, Inihaw na Pusit, and Seafood Rice.  For drinks, we had watermelon and fresh mango shake. The food served to us were all tasty and rich in flavor so my husband ended up ordering extra rice.

Eating at Bagoong Club was a unique experience but one must be prepared to load up on carbs.
