I am awed by modern architecture but I must admit that well-maintained old houses possess "historic charm." Last month, we attended a baptism in Bataan and booked a room in Las Casas Filipinas de Azucar, a heritage resort where some scenes of popular Philippine movies such as Heneral Luna, Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo and Felix Manalo were shot. My aunt and I joined the "walking tour" while the rest of my family enjoyed the other facilities. Being in Las Casas was like living in the Philippines during the Spanish Colonial Period. Houses from different provinces were rebuilt meticulously up to the tiny details, making me appreciate old Philippine architecture even more. But more than the physical beauty of the casas, I think what gave them character were the stories that the tour guide shared about each house. Tales of love, murder, betrayal and revenge made the houses more fascinating - stuff that new and modern houses don't usually possess. My Casa Minerva has it's own story. How about you, have you ever thought of what stories your old house would tell if its walls could speak?
Here are some of the photos I took of the exterior of the houses and other establishments.
And these are shots of the interior of some of the houses, some of which had very intricate designs.
My kids and their yayas enjoyed the batis-inspired swimming pool.

The AuthorI am Minerva and I welcome you to my home. I believe that part of being a good host is to share a bit of myself to my guests. I will not be able to do this personally so I set up this blog page. Here, I can tell you stories and news about my house, keep you informed about upcoming events at my place, and maybe even share some of my personal adventures with you. So sit back, relax, and let me entertain you. Archives
